Hmmm, sounds like a PR stunt to me... he earned $14mil last year, though it is unclear how much of that amount came from a bonus for meeting targets etc etc. So the guy gave $3mil away, Its not hes like he NEEDS that money. $14mil put in a high interest account or invested into the stock market can generate quite a lot of money - all he needs is a large sum of money to fund huge investments so he can reap the benefits from either dividens or the selling of his shares.
that $3mil wont be missed needless to say. but its nice to see the staff getting something back for all their hardwork while the CEOs are pretty much left to go on holiday whenever they please and let the rest of the board handle the business.
Not saying being a CEO isnt hardwork, but lets face it. some of the guys working on the factory floor that are the key to companies success will never get to rise to the role of manager let alone supervisor.
it should be law that if a business does amazingly well, that ALL the staff shoud get a bonus, not just the workers who are higher up the chain.
Its a team effort however you look at it. If the staff all quit. would the CEO, linemanagers or any other staff from the top roll up their sleeves and get stuck in and try to keep production up??? I very much doubt it.
