The Register has reported on prices for the various models of iPad announced yesterday, with availability from 16th March. Before we get into that though, what's with the name? Apple keeps referring to it as the "new iPad", while pictures of the back of it just show "iPad".
This means that the three generations have the name iPad, IPad 2 & iPad. Is it just me, but is there something not quite right about this? Successive generations of a product are supposed to progress in naming, such as iPad 3, or go in a different direction such as the rumoured iPad HD, which would have been really cool. No, going full circle and naming your latest product the same as your first one is frankly, retarded. Imagine trying to google for either first gen or third gen machine or search for it on eBay etc. The confusion is going to be rife and so will the scams from private sellers. No doubt, the stupid name won't stop the fanbois buying it in droves, however.
Now, on to the prices:
Wi-Fi only iPads
So, those prices in summary: it starts off reassuringly expensive and goes up from there, just like any Apple product.

I hate it when companies don't clearly differentiate between product versions. You would think it would be in their interest to called it the iPAD 3, as it would make people want the latest thing
As for the device itself, that's really fascinating. Fascinating.
Oh, look - there, out the window - a cloud!
I hope in the two days before the launch, it's bitterly cold and it rains and snows heavily!
Ace: we posted at the same moment, lol.
Proview look like they're going bust and now their creditors are claiming the rights to the name! It's all continuing to rumble on. Seriously, you couldn't make this shit up.
Apple often seems to set the trend and now they're really big, the effect is set to get worse. It's the damned iPad that gave us Metro on Windows, FFS. However, for once, they've done something really good and that's the awesome super-high res display on the new iPad. Why is it good? Because it'll spur the market for desktop monitors to start increasing their resolution. We've been stuck with "Full HD" for far too long now and it's about time we went to the next level. My 26" monitor is 1920x1200 which is nice, but it really could do with being higher.

Hey, neat! I double posted and then merged them together with my mod tools! Oh, the simple nerdy pleasure, lol.
