New Cougar Evolution BO PC Chassis Has Innovative HDD Port

Compucase has added to its Cougar range of cases and will release the Cougar Evolution BO chassis next month. We will get to the basic specs in a minute, but first of all, let's talk about its most interesting feature, the HDD port on the top, which can take 3.5" and 2.5" SATA HDDs.

PC enthusiasts are often adding or changing hardware, including hard disc drives intended for temporary use, perhaps for cloning and other similar uses. Instead of sitting precariously on the side of an open case, being tethered by their fragile cables, they can simply be securely plugged in at the top. Brilliant.

The case is a mid tower, a variant of the current Evolution model. It's also decked out in a very smart black and orange colour scheme, with tool-free drive mountings on all its drive bays (4x 3.5" and 6x 5.25"). It's made of steel and can accept ATX and mATX motherboards.

And now onto its basic specifications: it measures 223 (W) x 523 (D) x 514 (H) mm; has  eight expansion slots; an I/O panel with two USB 2.0 & two USB 3.0 ports; one 120mm Vortex HDB fan at the back (with vents for six more fans if need be); two pre-drilled holes at the back for water cooling tubes. The PSU mounts on the bottom of the case.

Note that given its depth of 523mm, fitting the biggest of graphics cards might be a tight fit, so this should be noted in any buying decisions.

Finally, the Evolution BO will be priced at around £100.
