Apple Co-Founder Loves Android!

Yes, you've read that right. Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak likes Android very much, despite using an iPhone as his main smartphone, saying "My primary phone is the iPhone, I love the beauty of it. But I wish it did all the things my Android does, I really do.”

This appears to allude to the open nature of the Android eco system versus the closed one of Apple's courtesy of its DRM lock-in. Wozniak believes that Android phones aren't quite as simple as an iPhone, but are worth putting in the effort to get the most of them. He believes that voice commands work better on Android, for example and likes the GPS function of Android phones. The battery life with the latest iPhone 4s is an issue for Wozniak too and he finds himself switching functions off to save battery life somewhat more than he'd like to. He also believes that the iPhone is the best all-round smartphone and that it's especially good for the technophobic, who want something that works in a simple manner. Read: dumbed down.

Wozniak appears to have a more balanced view of the merits of the various competing products in the smartphone market, which is in stark contrast to Steve Jobs. He absolutely detested Android and viewed it as a cheap knock-off of the iPhone and vowed to kill it even if he had to use all of Apple's resources to do it, possibly sacrificing the company in the processs, which sounds extreme. Unfortunately for him, he died before he could fulfill his dream of killing the competition with lawsuits rather than innovation - or run Apple into the ground in a futile and pointless battle.
